Chelsea Joy Handler is a New Jersey native born in Livingston on the 25th February in 1975. She was the eldest of six children that her family had. Handler was the daughter of a car salesman and housewife. Her mother was an German immigrants who arrived in this country in United States in 1958. In 1989 Handler was diagnosed with cancer, and passed away ten years afterwards. Handler was raised Reform Judaism by her father and grandfather, who were Jewish. Handler was born in a pleasant neighborhood and she enjoyed a joyful childhood. As she entered her twenties she moved to Los Angeles in order to pursue acting. Handler started acting to earn income. Handler at the time was 21 was able to concentrate on stand-up comedy full time following her discovery of storytelling. Handler's first professional gig was as part of the all-female Oxygen Television cast of the comedy show with hidden cameras Girls Behaving Unreasonably. The show aired on air from 2002 until 2005. Handler began appearing in other shows such as Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler was hired on The Tonight Show as a correspondent. Handler's biggest breakthrough was in 2006 as she began hosting her program on E! called The Chelsea Handler show. Chelsea Handler's Show ran for 2 seasons. Handler performed on Comedy Central's Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour the following season within the United States. Her stand-up performances have been broadcast by VH1 as well as Comedy Central's Premium Blend as well as HBO.
